Ford recently completely redesigned its mid-size Ranger pickup. The Ranger comes with a 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. In addition, a more powerful gasoline-powered twin-turbo V6 joins the lineup and you still have your choice of rear- or four-wheel drive.
New Ford Ranger For Sale in Columbus, Texas
Performance Overview
The entry-level New Ford Ranger comes with the same 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine as the current model. That means it will give buyers from La Grange and Schulenburg, Texas, 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque when coupled with Ford's 10 speed-automatic transmission. That also means this muscular mid-range pickup will have a 7,500-pound towing capacity and a maximum payload of 1,805 pounds.
In addition, Ford offers the New Ranger with a new 2.7-liter twin turbocharged V6 engine that will be available on higher trims. It will give you 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, and will still give you 7,500 pounds of towing. Both engines are teamed up with a 10-speed automatic transmission and are available with your choice of rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
Technology Highlights
Ford also upgraded the infotainment system with a 10.1-inch infotainment display standard, replacing the 8-inch touch screen from the prior model. If you want something even bigger, you can upgrade to the Ranger's vertically-oriented 12.4-inch touch screen.
What's more, all trims give buyers from Sealy and Eagle Lake Texas a digital gauge display that's either 8 inches or 12.4 inches in size. Smartphone connectivity now comes standard for both Apple and Android devices. Ford offers available extras like in-dash navigation, wireless smartphone charging and satellite radio.
When it comes to safety, Ford gives you a standard forward collision warning system and automatic emergency braking to help you avoid getting involved in an accident that's happening in front of you. You can upgrade to an available blind-spot monitoring system and adaptive cruise control.
Interior design
The Ranger's cabin gets a modern look with an available digital gauge display and textured dashboard trim. Most of the new Ford Ranger's controls and buttons have now been digitized and are part of the infotainment system. The interior design includes several new storage solutions including an upper glove box that's hidden in the dashboard. You'll also find bigger door pocket cubbies along with storage that's located under the rear seat. The Super Crew Cab is the only body style and that means four full-size doors with seating for five.

Exterior and trim levels
On the outside, the Ford Ranger offers a bolder styling treatment in the front that's inspired by the legendary Ford F-150. The New Ford Ranger XLT comes with a black appearance package that's reinforced by the presence of blacked-out trim that's used throughout the exterior.
The new Ford Ranger comes with the same trim levels as before, and that means you can choose from the base level XL trim, move up to the SLT, or choose the top-level Lariat trim.
